Today, political correctness says that a persons values are not important when determining the leader of this nation. The problem with that statement is that those that state this view point do not believe it themselves they want you to believe that lie so they can actually push their values on you. That is why you are seeing a shift in our nations morals. It is our values that shape our thoughts our policies. Every decision you make is based on the value system you have for yourself. Your definition of right and wrong is based on some type of value system. You are either influenced by God's values or the world's values. You either line up with one or the other.
So, the question remains is whose set of values are you going to line up with? Don't you believe that you should vote for the candidate that comes as close to your values on the issues facing us today?
Unfortunately there are those that don't believe their vote matters. See, your vote does matter. If you choose not to vote you have made a choice. The problem is if you choose not to vote you have voted. You have voted your values and that value is being passed on to your children. We as Christians have a duty to vote and to vote on the values and principles of God which is found in the His Word (Bible). God gives us clear instruction in regard to participating in government. It was God who established government. The following scriptures are few examples of where God gives us insight on our involvement:
Select capable men from all the people -- men who fear God, trustworthy men who hate dishonest gain -- and appoint them as officials over thousands, hundreds, fifties, and tens. Jethro to Moses (Exodus 18:21 NIV)
When the godly are in authority, the people rejoice. But when the wicked are in power, they groan. Solomon (Proverbs 29:2 NKJV)
You are the Salt of the Earth...You are the Light of the World. Jesus (Matthew 5:13-16 NIV)
Give to Caesar what is Caesar's and to God what is God's. Jesus (Matthew 22:21 NIV)
Obey the government, for God is the one who put it there. All governments have been placed in power by God. Paul (Romans 13:1 NLT)
